Abstract

The effective concentration and method of aminoethoxyvinyl glycine(AVG) treatment on flower longevity of petunia (Petunia hybrida Hort. ¢¥Pink Cascade¢¥) were investigated. Flower longevity was prolonged and flower number increased by treatment with AVG. Also foliar spray was more effective than soil drench. Flower life treated with high concentration (150-500 §·¡¤L^(-1)) extended more than low concentration(10-100 §·¡¤L^(-1)), but in high concentration, there were undesirable side effects such as miniaturization of flower, discolor ation of petal and delay of flowering. These phenomena increased with increasing AVG concentration and decreasing flower bud size. As the results, it was suggested that the most effective AVG treatment to maintain good quality of pot petunia was 50-100 §·¡¤L^(-1) of foliar spray treatment.
